During a six-day protest and encampment on Saint Louis University's campus last fall, President Fred Pestello chose to negotiate rather than "escalate the situation with any confrontation."
It was a difficult period for the school, he acknowledged then. But the protesters left peacefully, with at least one group, Tribe X, calling the events a success because SLU agreed to a 13-part accord.
Now, the university could face a new set of problems, as alumni opposed to that agreement threaten to withhold donations.
