A 68-year old Joliet man died Saturday afternoon after being struck by a freight train in Joliet township, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.
James A. Manstis, of Joliet, was pronounced dead at 2:34 p.m. on Saturday at Silver Cross Hospital’s emergency room in New Lenox.
Manstis was a pedestrian struck by a freight train near Manhattan Road and Rowell Avenue in Joliet Township as he bent down to pick up his longtime lucky rabbit's foot he had dropped, according to the coroner’s office.
Will County Sheriff police are investigating and the final cause and manner of death are pending.
